Cosmetic Dentistry

With modern dental technology and materials, restorations such as fillings, crowns and bridges can often be indistinguishable from the real thing.

It is also possible to improve the appearance of natural teeth with restorative techniques, sometimes with dramatic and rapid results. Our philosophy however, is that the maintenance of a healthy and functional dentition into old age should be the priority.

When contemplating cosmetic dentistry, it is important to be aware of the future likelihood of needing to repair and replace restorations together with any possible complications which may result.

With this in mind, we adopt a long term view when planning cosmetic treatment and aim to provide reliable, durable dentistry by the least invasive technique.

Many cosmetic dental procedures are minimally invasive and can improve a smile without sacrificing health or function.

Tooth whitening
Our preferred technique for tooth whitening involves the use of uses custom made trays to gradually improve the appearance of your teeth over a few days. This is sometimes combined with an in-surgery procedure in the “deep-bleaching” technique.

Tooth-coloured fillings, crowns and inlays
Modern composites and porcelain materials are often an excellent alternative to metal fillings and metal-ceramic crowns.

Porcelain veneers
Porcelain veneers may be used where teeth are worn, chipped or crooked. The front surface of the tooth is reduced by approximately ½ mm and the veneer is bonded to the front surface of the tooth using resin adhesives.
